
Bobby Hurd, a native of Corinth Mississippi, graduate of South Fulton High School, and Atlanta Area Technical School, he began his career as a business owner in 1972 as an electrician.
In April 1996, Mr. Hurd became a Gospel Promoter and a cable TV Talk Show Host. He was the promoter of “Gospel Night” for the Atlanta Hawks for 10 years. In 1997, the Dekalb County branch of the NAACP respectfully deemed him “Gospel Promoter of the Year”. He is also recognized in the National Registry of “Who’s Who of Executives and Professionals” for his achievements in the profession of Gospel Promotions, and in the field of his Electrical Contracting Services.
Former City of Atlanta Mayor Bill Campbell previously honored Mr. Hurd, for his dedicated leadership and innumerable contributions to the city and the community. AB Entertainment recognized him as Gospel Promoter of the Year for two consecutive years in 1999 and 2000.
In 2001, Bobby Hurd captured the honor of the Number One Local Gospel Show in Atlanta, GA, and is the Co-Chair of the quartet division of the GMWA. He also serves on the Board of the Quartet Convention in Birmingham, Alabama and was voted Man of the Year by the LRA, and the recipient of a 2004 NAACP Award.
With over 11 years experience, Bobby Hurd is committed to making a difference in numerous communities across the country. It is often said that knowledge is power. However, Hosea 4:6 states, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Through various media outlets such as, The Bobby Hurd Television & Radio Shows, Have You Hurd Gospel Magazine, the concepts of quality information, inspiration, gospel entertainment, and compassion to all mankind are exemplified. Closely examined topics and issues on leadership, social change, politics, education and economic empowerment have helped change the mindset and lives of individuals and families.
On May 5, 2001, Mr. Bobby Hurd presented a Gospel Workshop and Showcase, in which 52 gospel groups participated, making this showcase the largest held in the Atlanta area to this day. Out of the outstanding 52 gospel groups, four of the groups were able to sign a recording contract. On October 11, 2005 Global Evangelical Christian College & Seminary in Wetumpka, Alabama awarded Mr. Bobby Hurd a Honorary Doctorate Degree in Business Christian Communications.
In addition to all of Mr.Hurd’s achievements, he has remained humble throughout all of his endeavors and as of 2004, Bobby Hurd has became an ordained Deacon from his church home Pilgrim Baptist Church where he has remained a faithful member for many, many years. Mr. Hurd has been married to his high school sweetheart, Sarah, for 42 years. They have three daughters, two son-in-laws, four grandsons and one granddaughter. Mr. Hurd is one that truly loves the Lord and he expresses that each day by using the gifts God has anointed him with to touch the lives of others.
Bobby often says, “God has been so good to me. I came from the cotton fields of Mississippi, and I know that the Lord has brought me from a mighty long way. I believe God has blessed me to be a blessing to others, because I really enjoy what I do.”
Bobby Hurd acknowledges and leans on God’s everlasting arms for his faith and deliverance and recognizes that God is the center of his life.
